Better Block Comes to San Antonio!

Come and see what happens when an ordinary block transforms into a lively public outdoor space for a day! San Antonio’s first Better Block event is an on-street demonstration of San Antonio’s Complete Street initiative.

Artists, cyclists, shop owners, street musicians and community-minded folks will enliven the East Jones Avenue block of Broadway Street during the March 4th Siclovia event.

Preparation for this "living charrette" is ongoing, with 6 pop-up temporary shops and two art galleries expected to open between 10-2 during Siclovia. A sidewalk cafe space served by food trucks and an Alamo Ale beer garden will offer refreshments to cyclists, joggers, skaters and walkers. Volunteers are still needed to help transform the two block area.

Tree placement, community gardening, street markings, bike rack installation and storefronts installations will happen during the staging and setup up events March 3 through the early morning of March 4.  See below for more information.
