Historic Resources
The AIA National Historic Resources Committee was founded in 1890, and known as the “Committee on Conservation of Public Architecture.” Over 120 years later, the Committee is still actively participating in preservation efforts across the country. The mission of the local San Antonio Historic Resources Committee is to identify, understand, and preserve architectural heritage in the Alamo City. HRC is engaged in promoting the role of the historic architect within the profession through the development of information and knowledge among members, allied professional organizations, and the public. Committee meetings are held at Noon on the first Wednesday of each month at the Center for Architecture and are open to anyone interested in the preservation of San Antonio’s architectural heritage.
Twenty-Five Year Distinguished Building Award
AIA San Antonio established the Twenty-Five Year Distinguished Building Award in 2005. This coveted designation recognizes architectural projects of enduring cultural importance that have withstood the test of time. To be eligible a project must be located within the chapter’s boundaries and have been designed by an architect who, at sometime in his or her career, was a member of the San Antonio chapter.
